Many of you will have received a text message over the weekend from the local health authority regarding booster polio vaccinations for children aged 1 year – 9 years, in response to the recent guidance around polio strains found in sewage locally. Although we were unaware that this was being sent, as a practice and network of practices we have been actively planning a roll-out of polio vaccines for the affected age 1-9 years group, which involves ordering the vaccines, and arranging vaccination clinics to invite all eligible patients.
